Organisation of walks

The Dorset group organises events throughout the year, usually on the 2nd Sunday of the month starting at 10.00hrs or 11.00hrs. The typical walk length is 6 to 9 miles and we generally get back to our starting point between 15.30hrs  and 16.30hrs.  After our walks we are sometimes invited back to the leader's house for tea.

We also often hold midweek walks on the 3rd Thursday of the month (which are shorter and include a pub lunch afterwards) plus occasional extra weekend walks on the 5th Sunday of the month both starting at 10.00hrs.

Forthcoming events and recent events

To see our forthcoming events please click on  "Events" at top left of this page.  To view some of our recent events and to get a flavour of who we are and what we do, look at "Event Reports".

Group profile

Our group consists mainly of men in the 40 to 70 range. We do occasionally have women on our walks and they are always made welcome.

Lunch arrangements

Some walks require participants to bring their own picnic, as there is no opportunity for refreshments en route and this is indicated in the event details.  Other walks have a lunch break near a pub (or cafe), in which case you can decide whether to have a pub lunch or to picnic nearby.  The choice is yours. We give the phone number of the pub so that people can contact it if they wish in order to check menu/prices/need to book a table etc. The walk leader takes no responsibility for this.
