Dorset Group 22 Aug 19: Norden Wood and Creech Hill Barrow

On a beautiful summer's day our loyal band of six headed off to explore Norden Wood off the beaten track. Initially following the Purbeck Way past the Blue Pool we diverted through remote woodland to reach the Purbeck Hills. A stiff climb up the ridge was rewarded with spectacular views across Poole Harbour from Wareham to Bournemouth.

We followed the ridge path westwards enjoying the views down to the coast before crossing over to Creech Hill Barrow. A tramp up to the top of the hill provided us with a picnic spot with 360 degree views for miles around.

Suitably refreshed we descended the hill into the pretty hamlet of East Creech and a stop for tea at the local farm where we explored the duck ponds and fondled some donkeys. A gentle stroll across remote Creech Heath completed our return allowing time for some early Sloe picking.
